The proliferation of always available personal cameras also raises the issue of ethics and privacy in public places. This introductory class will explore the genre of street photography through its history, techniques, equipment and ethical considerations. Students will produce photographs as they explore the different aspects of street photography and generate a final body of work that demonstrates their personal vision within the genre of street photography.

Please register for the walk on the Worldwide Photowalk website

After finishing our coffee and shooting for a half hour at Union Station, we’ll take a leisurely stroll up Capitol Hill to photograph the outside of the Capitol and outside/inside the Library of Congress (no tripods allowed).

We’ll then cruise over to Eastern Market to photograph the crowded hall and have lunch at Market Lunch (though you can grab food anywhere in the Market). Bring cash for lunch as many places don’t take credit cards.

The thunderous roar of field artillery and the rattle of musketry returns to Monocacy National Battlefield for a demonstration and living history.

Experience a unique soundscape and learn what it may have been like to serve in both the infantry and artillery during the Civil War. Encampment and demonstrations will be at the Visitor Center.

We will be able to take pictures of the battle reenactments, cannon and musket firing and the soldiers living life as it was between 1861 and 1865.
